A hybrid and immersive show, between tradition and modernity, inspired by the 1973 cult movie
All audiences from age 10
A true oddity released in 1973, La Planète sauvage is a science-fiction fable by René Laloux and Roland Topor, freely inspired by Stefan Wul’s novel Oms en série (1957). This original artistic creation, which won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes, revolutionized animated film and influenced some of the genre’s greatest directors, including Miyazaki. La Planète sauvage also features a soundtrack composed by Alain Goraguer, a jazz pianist and arranger for Serge Gainsbourg, Brigitte Fontaine, Boris Vian, Jean Ferrat, as well as film. This experimental score, which blends pop, funk, and rock, transgressing musical genres with dazzlingly beautiful themes that continue to inspire numerous artists.
The ONJ takes this masterpiece, and its soundtrack imagined by Alain Goraguer, and delivers a contemporary reinterpretation for audiences aged 10 and over. While immersing young and old alike in the fantastic world of the 70s, this show deploys a dramaturgy, a present-day narrative and powerful images that resonate with the film’s philosophical, ecological and humanist themes. In the form of an “exploded” cine-concert, the orchestra offers a total artistic journey combining music, images, scenic, visual and interactive effects.
At the heart of the experience, the music brings together Goraguer’s progressive, organic sonorities and Sylvaine Hélary’s modern jazz, electro and contemporary creations.
By offering a unique artistic experience, between homage and modernity, this adaptation of La Planète sauvage by the ONJ aims to introduce younger generations to the richness of a singular cinematographic and musical heritage, while raising their awareness of today’s art and contemporary issues such as the notion of resistance, cybernetics, and collective memory.
